

Dr. Chalena Beasley

Our School Leader
Dr. Chalena Beasley is a lifelong Detroiter and distinguished alumna of Cass Technical High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marygrove College, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Wayne State University.
With more than seventeen years of exemplary service in education and National Board Teaching Certification, Dr. Beasley has held a wide range of instructional and executive leadership roles, including instructional coach, curriculum director, assistant principal, and principal. Most notably, she served as principal of Bunche Preparatory Academy, where she provided visionary leadership and advanced a culture of academic rigor, equity, and student-centered excellence.
A transformative, equity-driven leader, Dr. Beasley is deeply committed to cultivating learning environments that are socially conscious, inclusive, and grounded in justice. Her work consistently centers scholars and educators while strengthening systems that expand access, opportunity, and measurable achievement for all.
Dr. Beasley’s professional ethos is captured in her guiding maxim by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf: “If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”
